Today, we are with Hella Hair's creator Marleen to remember the past year and start with a clean slate with new energy. We are taking on all the challenges that the year 2022 offers, and be so grateful that you wear us and our values every day in your hair!
What were the most significant challenges and the biggest achievement last year?
The challenge was finding the right people for the Hella Hair team who would be loyal and add extra value. The biggest accomplishment was tripling our sales and raising the interest of our brand and products. The previous year also brought along a new company. A new brand was created in partnership with two fantastic Estonian top hairdressers, so the year 2022 seems to come exciting and filled with work.
Last years biggest failure?
I rather like the word unsuccessful. This word is quite usual to an entrepreneur, nothing remarkable, rather something to learn from and move on brighter. I have never considered the term unsuccessful because I always give a maximum. If I do something unsuccessfully, I know I have given my all and learnt from my mistakes. However, I still experienced burnout last summer. Suddenly, everything was too much at once, and I had to wear it all on my shoulders, still recovering slowly from it. At first, it was difficult for me to recognize it, as I have gotten used to living in so-called survival mode. But I have never been afraid to ask for help, so I have had my mentor with me for half a year, who has guided and supported me.
Who are my role models?
My biggest role model as a person and entrepreneur is my mentor, who has been my supporter and helper.
Where or from who did you get inspiration for work?
Of course, we constantly monitor what is happening in the fashion world and keep an eye on the most popular hair accessories. However, my goal was to create a brand for the most extraordinary women, listening and considering their wishes. My biggest inspiration and the source for my ideas is the Hella Hair client themselves.
KDid you keep your 2021 New Years resolution?
Yes, my last years promised that I would value myself and let nobody hurt me.
What are you grateful for?
I am grateful for all the support my loved ones have given me. Also, I am thankful for my intuition, which has never let me down.
What did you do last year that you have never done before?
I fasted seven days in the middle of Võru forest, which was an enriching experience. That has led me to a routine of fasting every Sunday.
One lesson that 2021 taught you?
You need to surround yourself with good and positive people. Let go and renounce everything that does not make you happy or bring joy!
How would you describe the current scrunchie fashion?
Scrunchie fashion is very diverse. The fabrics used to make the hair ties are very different. But if we talk about our most popular product, the most wanted are still the velvet scrunchies. Even if our colour variety is wide, then the most popular tones are nude, black and pink tones.
What are the new and exciting things to wait for from Hella Hair in 2022?
We will soon add new products to our trendy Organza collection, including new colours and sizes. At the beginning of Spring, we bring whole new material and colour variety products to the market. In addition, we are developing a new product line. However, as we wish to be 100% happy with the product's quality, it still takes some time, and the product itself is still a secret. ;)
